O.K my fathers 90 headlights won't pop up. His battery died and now they stay down. I have charged the battery and since ran the car. Checked all fuses on side by pass. door. O.K. Got power to both headlight motors. So I doubt both motors went at the exact same moment. When I turn the manuel light switch they don't pop up. Plus they should go up anyways in the garage because of the sensor on the dash.
ANy ideas????
I have a c5 so not sure if I'm missing something;. Is there another fuse panel??
Usual problem with C4 headlights is motor bushings - can you hear the motors running (but making a popping noise?). I agree, though - unusual to have them both completely die at the same time, so must be a fuse somewhere.
BTW - the sensor on the dash (I assume the one in the centre near the windscreen) is for the A/C system to calculate inside temperature 'stuff' if it is sunny IMO, not for auto lights.
The H/L motors don't do anything. It has to be something power related. But all fuses are O.K. and I got power to the motors. There has to be some fuses or relays somewhere else.
Any ideas???
Just worked on my 90 headlight motors and replaced the bolts the prievious guy put in the plastic gears plus fixed the bent arm that goes from the motor to the headlight bucket.
Check to see if the motors are in fact getting power. Take a multimeter and pull the plug from the motor to the wiring harness(just in front of the front wheels) make sure your multimeter is set up to read 12V DC(touch the battery leads and see what voltage you get) Have someone turn on the headlights while touching the lead to the motor. You should get a similar voltage to what the battery is showing for about 3 to 5 seconds then it will go away. If there is not voltage for a few seconds then the headlight control module is bad. I was getting voltage but the motors were locked up. I pulled the module apart and there is a clear plastic cover over a circuit breaker type thingie(the headlight control module says do not attempt to fix but I figured what the hell it is broke anyway) There are 4 white wires and one of mine was broke. I soldered another wire in and now the head lights work.
Other than that I do not know what could be wrong.
where is the headlight module? I think this is the problem, as I have power to the motors. Is it the actual light switch on the dash by the steering wheel.
Thanks
