i just installed a flipout LCD moniter and new audio bond speakers, now my car is not running like it usto and my rpm gauge light is very dull any segestions on the problem
It could be numerous things. The stereo could be wired and installed incorrectly. Most likey the new stereo is drawing too much power from your alternator and is causing the lights to dim. High amp units can be purchased as well as capacitors.
How many watts are you running on the new stereo? Up to 500 I'd imagine you should be fine unless your alternator is weak (had a bit of the same problems on my Ferrari in the pic when I installed an Infinity kappa/JL Audio system. After having the alternator rebuilt all the dash/headlights and headunit maintained good constant power. - - When I got my 95 Vette I ripped out all the Bose (PITA) and installed an all Alpine system (only the subwoofer is amped in this case - - about 500 watts on it - no problems whatsoever - of course I know nothing about whatever year your car is, and honestly not much about mine - yet I have done several stereos).
Also - I agree with Eric that something could be wired improperly and cause this problem. Improperly wired amps could even drain your battery to dead while driving (My parents used to have a Ferrari Mondial with that problem - thank god it got totaled [no one hurt - and parents got a new Ferrari out of it at the time]. However, I disagree with getting a capacitor - they don't actually help anything. I would have to say they do as much as what people here say the cooler Tstats do for our Vettes.
