first let me thank everyone in advance for helping me out with this problem thats tempting me to drive the car into a ditch!
since i have replaced my leaky orignal injectors with 26lbs/hr accel injectors the car takes 3-4 seconds to start and thats while pumping the pedal to the floor. then once running the idle is kind of rough but whats worse is when decelerating from 25 - 0 mph the dash/head lights dim the oil pressure dips to the first hashmark and back to the middle and rpm needle shutter constantly all the way till i completly stop.
i installed new O2 sensors and installed a air/fuel gauge while i was down there ( i know those are the most inacurate gauges in the world and i should have gotten a wideband but the hoes love the lights that bounce back and fourth + it does help a little for the AFPR tuning which i know is also a waste of time)
i just installed a new fuel filter and have even gone as far as unpluging the vacuum line that goes to AFPR which did help a little with performance but not with the bounce back time of the dipping needles
the new injectors have practically a pin hole where the fuel comes out (i understand for the conical spray) is that what is killing me because everytime i let off the throttle the gauge goes max lean... is it a fuel pump (ill check the rail pressure in the AM) or opti spark problem?????????????
really sorry for the long thread any input will greatly be apreaciated!
How many miles? Are you running headers? Have you reprogrammed computer for those injectors? If you have a decent fuel pressure gauge then check the rail at various RPM. Should be close to 40psi. I had similar symptoms with original injectors on my 93. I replaced with ford SVO injectors and my timing chain was really slack causing a rough idle.
rebuilt motor with about 30k miles, factory exhaust manifolds, a old hypertech chip that im about to replace...fuel pressure is sitting a hair under 40psi
thanks
26# is bigger than stock you should be running rich.I am guessing but FP should be around 36psi with those.Get Datamaster,a laptop and cable and scan your engine. No sense throwing parts at it till you do.It will tell you what is happening.Accel injectors have been know to be a problem and no one I have seen here recommends them.FMS 24#@ around 38psi are what most use.
