Default Transmission Flush

1984 Vette with 94,000 miles. I have owned it for 8 years but it had 73,000 when I bought it. Don't know if previous owner ever change trany fluid. I am afraid to do it because some say it will soon make the trany go bad. Others say that this, fairly new, transmission flush is the way to go and will not harm the trany.

Anyone have experience one way or another? Appreciate any advice.

I don't know about a flush but if it was my car I would pull the pan and change the filter/fluid replacement. On my Vert it takes under an hour and most of that time is spent removing the Xbrace and lifting the car. I believe that the guys that have problems after a fluid change were already having problems and thought the change would help or the tranny was on the way out.

DO NOT flush your transmission, unless you have money set aside to rebuild it. A transmission flush will stir up crap inside the transmission and it's bound to get stuck somewhere it doesn't belong. Just drop the pan, replace the filter and gasket, and your car should be fine. Never had any problems doing this. Enjoy your car!
