Default Front wheel spacers ???

I am wondering what i can do for this.....I have a '94 LT-1 with chrome
sawblade rims. The backs are 11 and the fronts are 9 1/2 with 255s on the front. I am looking to bring out the fronts just alittle bit. Are the wheel spacers the only way to go ? thanks.....

Spacers or adapters could be used.

Spacers will require knocking out the studs and putting longer studs in. (Summit racing sells two overlength 190K PSI studs 1/2" over ARP-100-7708 and 1 1/4" over-length ARP-100-7713). If you use a spacer, I'd pick 1/4" (non hub-centric) or 3/4" hub centric spacers. 1/4" will still expose 1/4" of the existing hub flange. (The center hub flange helps insure centering of the wheel).

1/2" spacers aren't recommended because that's the thickness of the factory hub flange. (There'd be no center flange). 3/4" allows the outer 1/4" of the center hole to be reduced (in diameter). This reduced center is where they build an "extension" of the hub flange -- and deem it hub-centric.

Anything larger (e.g., 1") gets into the use of an adapter instead. Adapters should also be ordered as hub centric. They bolt on to your existing studs and have their own studs (in between) for mounting your wheels. (The additional length of the factory stud must fit it recesses between the bolt holes on the back of your wheels -- or the factory studs may actually require shortening. Corvette sawblades have the recessed area you'd need).

FYI: If your rears protrude slightly, you might want to know that the fronts can protrude up to 1/2" (at least on my car) without rubbing. You should also know that moving front wheels out may alter steering geometry slightly and/or accelerate suspension wear. (Some alignment shops may not touch it if altered).

Fanatics about safety/racing recommend AGAINST the use of spacers or adapters -- because either can break and cause damage or accidents. They recommend buying wheels with the offset and size you want, need, or prefer. (If you want it badly enough, I bet wheel repair shops could change your wheel as desired. But it would cost an arm and a leg).

Type in "wheel adapter" in a web search engine to find manufacturers of spacers/adapters. They can provide additional info.

We have run a set of adapters (not spacers) on our C4 for the past 2 years, 5/8" thick on the front and have had no issues at all. The adapters do help set the tires at the edge of the fender openings for a much more aggressive look.

We run 1-1/4" thk adapters on the rear as well, when running our race tires (275/40-17s on all 4 corners).

The picture here is with the 9-1/2" rims / 275's on the front and the 10-1/2" rims/315 rears.

I find this difficult to believe! 5/8" is of course smaller than 3/4" and I have heard multiple vendors say 3/4" is too thin -- for an adapter! Keep in mind, the adapter is weakest where the "new" bolt head sits behind the adapter plate. With a 5/8" adapter, this must only be about 1/4" of metal keeping your wheel from flying off!!!

If you really have 5/8" spacers, what are they made of? Where did you buy them? And, how fast to you take corners!!!!!!?????????
