I dont see how this could help a stock intake that seems to flow plenty of air. However it does seem to improve on its direction of the airflow. Has anyone tried this mod with positive results? I know the stock intake doesnt LOOK very good compared to this, but read that stock is good for well over stock HP (In which case this mod must be junk). - - Also - anyone have pics of this mod? - Thanks

Well - it's not going to add 50hp - but with regards to the stock airbox, it's definitely an improvement. Is it worth it....... that's all in the eye of the beholder.

BTW, there was an article in Vette magazine and this mod made 8rwhp and 9 lb/ft of torque over the stock airbox.

I have it because it looks better then stock, and it provides a small improvement.

It looks like a SLP "cold air induction system". However it appears to take warm air from the engine bay, not cool air from infront of the radiator as you must cut the radiator shroud to get to cool air so I don't see how they can call it "cold air induction". Cooler air will increase HP slightly. Opening your air box is said to also increase HP slightly. Most experts say 5-10 HP, not 20. If you want cold air induction, I would reccomend a real cold air system. I have seen 3 different systems for sale. Dont expect much of a seat of the pants difference. my 86 picked up 2 mph in 1/4 mi with an opened air box, and removal of the MAF sensor screens. Not much to notice.

I ahve it and it works as well as the cut air lid mod. It definatly cleans it up and gives a more open look under the hood. When i installed it I stated Ithough it was good for 0 HP over the cut air K&N stock airbox but I liked the look much better then the stock box.

hmm. Well I have cut the lid already (the cover and then every other fin - looks better that way to me than cutting all of them). And I was already considering a stock K&N filter b/c of the lifetime use. - - I am familiar with using K&N on the Ferrari I had and it certainly made a power difference there, but don't expect to see much with this car (though always hopeful ). Still would like to see a pic of the install though (being a visual enhancement as well might get it to make the cut...)

I picked one up here used looks real good had some compliments on it. But gain in hp nope. Save your money for a cam or some headers or gears

I too agree with everyone else here. I got one here on the for sale forum for cheap. It was like new. I getting ready to send it off with my intake to have them powdercoated red. I don't know about performance, but it works great on the eye factor.
