Paging Mr. Mojo

I have been reading the forum for a few weeks now and finally joined up. I have learned alot from you all and wish to thank you all for the tips and tricks. I just did the opti/wires/coil/plugs/water pump change and have learned alot about my car. It's a 95 LT-1 6 spd coupe. Is it true they only made 1003 CY's in 95? And even fewer in 96? The previous owner abused the car, and I am going broke trying to fix everything that is wrong, but i'm very happy that I bought this car. I will have many more posts on here for tips to help my car out. The car is running like new since the ignition and coolant system fixes. I will race at E-Town soon, hopefully the weather can cool off for next week, or at least let the barometer rise just a little.
I do have one question for Mr. Mojo. I asked Glock to ask you about your cam. After watching your shift video I saw that you shift at the same rpm's that the LT-4's shift at(somewhere in the low-mid 6000's). Is the power band on your LT-1 different than the other's produced in 95? I am very curious. I haven't tried to rev my car up that high yet, but I wonder why you are doing it. Did you change your cam, or to make up for the rpm drop, you rev up your engine to get it into the power band at a better rpm. I don't know what the stock rev limiter is on our cars, so is your rev limiter set higher than stock? I just watched the movie again and want to know why you do it. I know that you got some fast e.t.'s, but saying that you have a stock valvetrain gets me wondering. I am sure that i'll see you again at E-Town. I will try shifting like this on the way home today. I will get some runs in soon to try and see if shifting higher makes any difference in our LT-1's. Also to go 108 mph you need to make more horsepower(somewhere around 320 or so) than our cars made stock(300 according to all the mags and GM data). After looking at your time slips I see that your mph and e.t.'s aren't that constant, and wonder how you can run 13.00's at 102 and 108 mph? That's a big difference in power between those 2 runs. I won't say anything else until I run my car. Ofcourse mine isn't all stock, but exhaust, MSD coil and wires isn't going to make a net 30 horsepower improvement. I guess i'll shut up till then. Drivers can make the difference, but you can't make horsepower appear out of thin air. Not trying to knock you, but it seems like we're missing out on something here.

Mr Mojo and Patrick96LT4 are the masters of the six speeds. They are both more than happy to help anyone out.
Yes 1003 Competition Yellow cars in 95, 834 in 94, and my black book isn't new enough to give me a 96 number.

What the timeslips don't show are missed shifts and the weather.
On those timeslips where I had a 2.2 60' or higher, I either spun the tires or bogged down.
On those that show a 2.00 or less 60', I obviously hooked really well.
As far as the mph, some runs I let off early(bracket racing) so I wouldn't break out.
The 108 mph came in the late winter early spring in 35 degree weather.
Temp makes a big difference.
The video above, my engine temp was at 220, where normally I keep it at 150-160. That 60 degree difference in temp means a lot.
I ran 13.82@103 mph in that video. That's about 4 tenths and 1 mph off my normal for this time of year.
When you get down to E-town, look for me, I'll be glad to fill you in on everything about my car and the way I drive it.
I haven't done a thing to the motor or anything else. I still have the front sway bar in. The only "free" mod I've done is to cut open the air lid and that didn't do a thing to improve.
As far as my motor being different, I always kid around that mine was built before lunch, that's why it's better.
Based on my mph, most guys at the track agree that my engine is stock.
Mackey and Panuzzo(both LT1/automatics) were trapping at 106 mph before they did gears. So that goes to show the difference between auto and stick.
I believe the next time I'll be running at the track will be 8/18, I can't get there early enough on Fridays to make any runs.
Come on down.

The rev limiter is set at 5850 I believe, so if I'm shifting at 6,000, my tach is off by at least 150 rpm, although I think it's closer to 300 rpm off.
I will be in Carlisle, you would be better off preregistering and trying to get a room will be hard this late in the game.
If you look at the August issue of GM Hi Tech, you will find me and Panuzzo on page 72 I think, it's from SLP day this year.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I will have to find that GM Hi Tech mag and take a look. I heard that there was an Impala SS in there also, I think that it was someone from our club.
Thanks for the info on the tach. I couldn't beleive how high you were shifting. I will install an after market tach to see how much my tach is off one of these days. Where do we splice off our tach signal? From our coil up front? Which part of the connector do you tap into? Any help on this would be great. I was shifting my car at 5500 yesterday on the way home. I chirps 2nd, 3rd and I think that I can get 4th to chirp, depends on the rpm. If I shift low(below 5000)it chirps with no prob, I guess the torque really drops off at those higher revs. I look forward to racing and checking out the Vettes in October.
I also got another question for you. My MAF connector fell off this week while I was driving. I had a service engine light come on, but there wasn't a noticable change in power from the car. Does this sound right? I reconnected it and the car seems to run like it did before, during, and after the disconnection. Maybe i'm getting too much sun....lol Does the Maf have that little control over the fuel delivery system that it wouldn't make any difference in performance? Or is my Maf shot. Or am I crazy. I think it can be all of the above. Thanks again and talk to you soon.

As far as chirping gears, I can only chirp 2nd and occasionally 3rd.

As for the MAF, I'm still not sure what rear effect it has on performance.
