A/C fan doesn't work! Aaaggghhh....
Just got the Vette back yesterday after getting the transmission rebuilt and the a/c worked fine. Today, after work I turned the car on, pushed the "auto" button for the a/c and nothing......the green lights are lit and not flashing and the engine sounds like it does when the a/c is cycling, but there is no air coming out the vents. The fan from the defroster doesn't blow either.
I'm taking it in to a shop tomorrow but I wondered if you guys had ideas. I don't see anything loose or disconnected under the hood. The transmission work shouldn't effect the a/c?

Linda, I know this is a dumb question but did you check your fuses??? How is the tranny???
Yeah, how's the tranny? If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the rebuild? I am going to need a rebuild before long (when 2nd to 3rd doesn't work anymore). Did you have a complete rebuild, or just the clutches?
I just had the same issue, turned out to be the "Maxi-fuse" located under the hood up close to the battery under a black cover. It was a 30amp I think it said AC fan.
My95, not a dumb question at all, in fact I pulled the owners manual out to see which fuse (s) it would be and pulled the panel but did not take them out. I knew I'd have it in the shop today. Anyway, this AM it was fine!!
I took it over to the shop anyway and the guy took a look thinking maybe the tranny guys loosened some wires but all was fine. He said it probably is the fan motor and if it did it again to check to see if the motor is running and if not to tap it with a hammer or something and it might start up. He said he would replace it if needed. It's been fine all day....
As far as the tranny goes, this is what the bill says: transmission 700R4, torque converter, reaction sun(?) shell, reaction sun (?) gear, fwd sprag (?) assy, low/rise sprag (?), TCC solenoid, translube additive == $1112 total. I can't read all the writing, does that make sense? Would someone please correct my spelling on the parts if I'm wrong? Thanks

hey linda
tranny work should have nothing to do with it unless they unhooked the one wire lead to the fan motor (i am going by my '85 i hope yours is the same)
it could be bad, but it was pretty easy to replace in mine. if it is the same, all you need to do is take ths skirt (inner fender cover) off and loosen like 4 bolts i think and the motor and hamster wheel come out. i did however have problems replacing the wheel on the aftermarket motor, it didn't fit, so i ground it down......then i had to buy a new wheel....duh! guess it pays to take the old parts to the parts store with you when purchasing. good luck

Hope I don't have those problems, cause it seems the gremlin is back in the fan motor. I did what the mechanic told me to do if the fan didn't run, I tapped it with the end of a screw driver and it started blowing air, so I'm going to have it replaced tomorrow after work. I don't want to have to mess with it on vacation.
Thanks My95...it's almost fixed...... :D

Linda, your spelling is correct except for one entry. low/rise should be low/reverse. FYI "sun" a gear in a specific type of gear cluster. It is a part of the way gears change as you drive. The shell is where it lives inside the transmission. Sprags are a type of mechanical clutch, they premit rotation in one direction but not the reverse. Again a part of the gear changing operation. BTW I thing you got a bargin if you got a decent warranty. The parts you listed are considered hard parts and can be frightfully expensive. Have a nice vacation.
Thanks for asking, My95. Yes, it seems all is well in my Corvette world. We replaced the fan motor (looks like a gerbil cage) and the a/c blows nice cool air! The transmission works fine, a little different in the shifting but no complaints. So, it looks like I'll be off on my vacation Wednesday with all my gremlins taken care of.
Don't know if I'll make the club meeting Tuesday, I leave early Wed AM....we'll see.
