Default New shifter for 1995...maybe

For my 1995

Now that the console has been opened up I am considering a new shifter...

Anyone know where I might find instructions for installing an aftermarket shifter such as B&M or Hurst?

your suggestions are appreciated too...

Stu

I prefer the Hurst over the B&M.

Procedure is relatively simple, but it's better if you have two people and the car in the air.

The hardest part is getting the pin out and realigning it to put back in.

it's really easy if you do the clutch at the same time.

My suggestion would be the Hurst shifter. Here are the installation instructions from their website.

This is hit or miss with people. Some love the B&M and some love the Hurst.

I also prefer Hurst even though the B&M is slightly shorter throw than the Hurst. IMHO I think B&M is too short for the ZF. Others will disagree.

Not to mention the Hurst is much cheaper and I know Steel will hold up longer than aluminium. On e-bay there's a guy selling the shifter for $123.88, **** for $28.88 and is cheaper on shipping than Summit which is the next best deal.

I ordered mine today...

Nothing wrong with stock, short throws don't do anything to help with quicker shifts anyway.

The stock shifter is a little slpooy and I think it may be due to teh amount of shims used. If a shim fell out or wore away, I'm guessing that could have caused some of the slop I was experiencing with my 133,000 mile tranny.

I did the Hurst in my 93 and I absolutely love it. As Mojo said it doesn't make it shift any faster than stock but it sure has a tight "click click" feel to it when you shift. Got it from Summit. You can go on line and download the instructions but mine was a piece of cake to install.

Default hurst great quality

I havent gotten one for my vette yet. (too many other problems) I did have a hurst in my 01 trans am and I loved the feel of that although the t-56 tranny feels a lot different too begin with. But the hurst was tight and quick too.
