Default Need Vats Help ASAP

Im trying to get my 89 running right now, selling day after tommorrow, vats died today, What color are the wires for the vats the need to be jumped with a resistor's' , i know the key is a 15, my resistance of my key using my fluke was 11.72 kiloOhms, The resistance of my littel resistor contraption is 11.68, I tried it and still nothing, I crank key to start position and get nothing but Security system flashing, I think im jumping the right wires, one is yellow the other is brown, then ran into a 2 prong connector. they run parallel to the steering column under the hush panel. I am missing something. Thanx for the info......

My Vats decoder ring says that #15=11.8k Ohms. I don't know if 1% makes any difference.

Yel & Brn look like the correct wire colors.

Have you tried wiggling the shifter in case the neutral safety sw is off a little? Also, check the VATS fuse.

I would suggest the VATS bypass, which you can get in a few online stores. My car doesnt have VATS anymore, thank the lord!!

The manual shows that as long as your resistance is between 11.328K and 12.292K you should be ok so your resistance should work. You are jumping the correct side of the connector right? Sounds like you have the general idea so I'm sure you are but never know. -Jeff

The contacts for the pellet in the ign sw go down the steering column and at the base of the column under the carpet is a two prong connector, unplug and jump your fixed resistor across the wires going to the passenger side (VATS module) and you should be able to crank. If not , you can jump the start enable relay contacts and you will no longer have VATS or the protection it affords.
