i have an 89 vette. How much horsepower would the vortex rammer cold air intake system give me? and would it be worth the buy?

I hate to say it,but despite the magazine/catalog claims, youre not going to see or feel any real gains doing this mod. This mod will help if you build a stout motor that needs more air.The stock air cleaner set up flows more air cfm than youre car ever uses, especially if its stock. That being said, the set up youre asking about looks cool and can be a benefit if you decide to modify the engine later on.

If your intake is now bone stock you could expect 10chp gain, maybe 15chp tops.

Over stock, about 10. But over a K&N w/ open lid, only a couple.

I would NEVER pay money for a Vortex, its a piece of crap.

vader, have you seen the SLP for your year?

I think you'd agree, it's a legit mod, and worth the $150. I bought mine for $100 if I recall.

What year did GM tilt the radiator?

Not that you asked central, but I have the SLP & judging by the sound I hear in front of the vehicle, it seems legit.

I don't think you'll gain anymore hp than ancut-lid. Mine is so warped it is headed for the trash can. Last time at the dyno, we pulled it off and I gained 10 rwhp because the black plastic part was collaspsing in on itself. Save your money.

I think the Breathless Vortech air rammer is a good idea it's just made out of cheap material. Mine is also warped

I'm getting ready to trash mine also. Absolute junk quality and already replaced the box once. (Of course at a very expensive charge because there is no warranty) I got tape and silicone all over the place to just try and get it to hold together.

Great idea.....very poor execution.

Also the round part of the duct where the filter slips on has an I/D of only 3 inches. In my case this was a restriction as my twin 63mm throttle bores are larger in area. Needless to say it's no longer on my car, it was pretty well trashed anyhow - warped and cracked all over.
