I just bought my first Corvette, a very nice all original 1996 CE LT4/6 Spd. Conv. The only thing it needs is tires. I have run Firestone SZ50 EP & Michelin Pilot on my last two hot rods but don't know the best combination for this car.
Any and all help and advice will be appreciated. (I am really looking forward to owning this car, and am glad to see the extent of forum members)
As a newbie myself, I have one question - there seems to be a number of people that have replaced their waterpumps. With my recent temperature excusion (before I cleaned out my rad) - I questioned if I should change out my waterpump - what are the tell tale signs of a degrading/failed waterpump on LT1's.
Check out Tireamerica.com for comparisions about top rated tires. I went with the Bridgestone Potenza 730's. A center channel as big as your thumb. Bitchen tread design, soft sidewalls for a better ride on a daily driver, 300 treadwear. $168 each at tireamerica, $190 installed at local dealer with taxes, balancing and road hazard included. :D :D :D
Welcome! Post a separate topic for your waterpump question to get more responses. How many miles on your current water pump? Get a mirror and check the weep hole under the water pump center near the block. Also fill coolant tank and bleed air out ( put a couple rags over that Opti) and see if that fixes your overheating. do the simple things first.
