Default Brass bleeder screw for cooling system

I know this is going to sound silly, but I'm hoping someone can help me.
My roommate has a 97 Z28 with an LT1 and he somehow manage to lose his bleeder screw while he was refilling his radiator, so I let him use mine out of my 95 Vette that I haven't driven in a while due to an unsolved overheating problem (That will be another post when I get ready to fix it). Since my roommate is with his fiance (yeah, I know) I decided to try to find a replacement. Autozone didn't know what I was talking about and Pep Boys didn't have any brass screws that looked like what I was looking for (so they say). I was wondering if it can be replaced from a hardware store and what exactly is the size and thread for this screw? I would go to the dealer but they're already closed and I was hoping I would be able to start the Vette up for some maintenance sometime this weekend before the Superbowl game.

Also, I lifted my hood and found 2 black widows (so far). Will bug spray damage anything under my hood or is there a safer alternative?

Bugspray can stain certain materials. I would be cautious.

Brass is a soft metal, and getting the wrong size or type can really mess up the threads. I would bite the bullet and order the screw from the dealer, or just get yours back from your friend and make him order his own.

I would go to a junk yard and get one.If you did the coolent by pass thing ,you could use the screw from the bottom of the throttle body.

That's assuming you can find Vette parts in a junkyard, at least I never have. Thanks for all your replies! I guess I'll have to wait till monday to hit the dealers.

If the dealer's price is too high you might consider www.vette2vette.com
