Cure for excessive water temperature
Remove the radiator clean with soap and garden hose be careful not to use to much pressure and bent the fins I got aux cooler from jc whitney for $75.00 and it fit between radiator and ac condeser it adds about 40% to capacity it is connected to the heater hoses I installed low temp thermostat and fan switch to manually run both fans in 90 degree heat it runs 177. Now iam sure this will cause a lot of you to post things about how you don't need to run this cool but i have a supercharged engine and less heat means less detonation also i thing gm runs the high temps because of emission not because it is good for the engine anyway it works for me :smash: :smash:
I am in the middle of installing an ATI P600B with a two core intercooler in my 85 L98 350 with AFR 190, Super/Ram, retro roller kit, 58mm T/B, all into 1 3/4" hooker full length headers and 3 chamber FlowMasters. I live in Dallas and heat will be a problem I'am sure. I am also putting in a ZF6 in place of my 4+3 and I will be using a Star Performance Stage III carbon clutch with a single mass aluminum Fidanza
F/W from DRM . I had to get one from him that would matchup to my split rear main seal, internally balanced 350.
Now for my questions. Would the aux cooler from JCW work with the intercooler installed? could a tranny coller also be put in that same area without having a negative affect on overheating issues with the S/C? What boost are you using and what model S/C. I assume that my kit with 8lbs 6rib pulleys will get around 5 or 6 lbs with my mods. I will be tuning with a DFI setup that piggy backs on my 165 ECM (upgraded from the 85 870 ECM) and will be running as a speed density setup.
I have a lot of work to do and any suggestions or pointers you can give in putting this all together will be really appreciated. I plan on doing the S/C first then installing the ZF6 after the S/C is in. Unless someone can convice me to do things differently.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or input you can give on any of this.
