Former C4 owner here with a question. My cousin has a 95 Auto and started experiencing the ASR warning light come on intermittently. Pushing the button on the dash on and off doesn't not seem to correlate to the light coming on and off.
Can anyone give me some ideas of where to start looking to resolve this?
A number of problems will cause the ASR light to come on on these cars as in my 92. ABS problems, spark control problems, tachometer reading problems, speed sensor problems amomg others.
Is the computer throwing any codes to coinside with this light? This is the only way of knowing what is causing the light to come on.
Do a complete scan of the ECM, the CCM, and the EBCM when checking for codes and report your findings.
If no codes are set the problem may be minor and you may have to live with it until it starts to show a code. Once you have a code set you can start to diognose the problem in that system.
I've been having the same problem the last couple of weeks. Both the ASR and ABS lights are on about half the time. ASR is then useless. I pulled the codes with a code reader for a different year Vette and it was either a LF or RR wheel sensor. Funny thing is, the last few days, the lights have not come on and everything is working fine. Check your rear sensors. The front ones are supposed to be a B***h because they are part of the hub assembly. Edit, I didn't bleed the system, but I did take a turkey baster and sucked some of the old fluid out of the reservoir and replaced with new. Maybe bleeding the system is all it needs.
