3ish years ago, on a Mustang Dyno, only had muffler elims. and Hypertech (I know, it was really cheap, got it mostly to turn fans on earlier) and got like 298rwhp.
Mine came out at 298 hp some years ago with nothing but an
open air cleaner and a K&N. Sorry I don't remember the torque
here at work but it was just over 300 lbs. Not a Mustang, it
was the other standard dyno brand, don't recall.
Because I was curious how it would compare to my old LS1.
LS1's usually put roughly the same hp, with a far worse tq. curve. Not that the LS1 tq curve is bad its just not as good. I beat up on LS1's all the time.
307/330 out of my LS1 M6. These numbers look comparable. I would imagine SOTP would be about the same.
Reason I ask, I've been planning on a used C6 in a couple of years, but I've just never gotten over my love of the C4's. For what I was going to pay for a C6, I could easily get ANY LT4 car, except maybe a low mile GS. And w/ the great folks on this forum (mostly nice guys on the C6 side, but more than a few smart *sses and jerks) to get me through the inevitable maintenance problems, I'm thinking more and more about just getting a nice LOW mile LT4, and keeping it forever. Never having driven an LT4, I was just curious how it would feel compared to my old car, which was just quick enough.
Thanks for the responses everyone!
Edit: the M6 was in an '01 Formula. The Fbodies seemed to put down a bit more to the wheels than the vettes did for some reason. My C5 was A4.
I'll stack my LT4 against any LS1 any day. I do a lot of autocrossing and have no trouble from the newer vettes. You can't go wrong with the LT4.
With that being said.. I do love participating in the Nevada Open Road racing....so to that end.... I am in the process of sending my Grand Sport to Lingenfelter's for a bit of fine 'tuning'. I'm going with the 383 rather than the 396 as I need a prolonged high rpm and I don't feel confident enough in the 396, given the thinner cyl wall thickness.

I ran a 13.2@107 with 2.2 60' bone stock on street tires. My car made 305hp/310tq bone stock. I have raced several LS1 vettes, GTO's and f-bodies, and they are relatively the same stock for stock. I just love the low-end torque I get with the LTX motor compared to the LS1. LT1's have more grunt low-end than the LS1, but get walked up top, whereas with LT4 it has better bottom end and is equally as good up top. With the money you save on a LT4 car, you'll be able to get some bolt-ons and really wake that thing up.
I too was contemplating a LS1 over the LT4, and the my only regret is the interior noise from the C4. Mine is a 96 obviously, and I can garauntee you I have more little squeaks and rattles than any C5. It took me about 2 months to eliminated them all and I still get a lil interior noise every once and while, but hey the car is 10 years old now!
Here is a link of me against a GTO 5.7 on the street. (computer generated of cours )

Two years ago I put my stock LT4 on a Dynojet, along with a friend's stock LS1 C5.
I got 311hp, he got 316.
Two months later, at a different facility and after an LT1Edit, my LT4's chart said 307hp. It was hotter that day, but I think it shows that
A) dynos are not all the same.
B) dyno-tuning may be worth less than the $500 they charge.
(I can't remember the torque values. Sorry.)
