We jsut recently dropped a set of Comp Cams COMP R roller lifters into a 402 in a H2 and another set into a 400ish ci LT1. They are the same and all swap freely.
So if we start with the 1987 sbc to present.
Is the OEM hydraulic roller lifter different for any of the V8 engines? L98,LT1,LT4,LS1, LS2,LS6.....
I believe the LT-4 has 10mm rocker studs so the rockers are different. A normal SMC has 3/8" studs. You can buy the LT-4 rockers for 3/8" studs, I just bought a set for my LT-1 from GMPP.
Thanks for the input everyone.
Looks like something may be different for the genIII LS.
I noticed if you try to buy them new for an 1987 they will state not for genIII applications.
There is also this on-line article Hot Rod I came across that states the LS1 shared very few parts but that the roller lifter was unchanged.
Everyone seems in agreement they are the same until we get to the LS then it gets blurry.
Has anyone ever compared any side by side ?
