if you chose the right manifold and aircleaner, you will hhave clearance for the hood. the manifold i am using is the weiand xlerator, imca version. I am also using a summit drop base air cleaner

There have been some recent posts on this topic, so check those out. Basically, it seems possible; i considered doing it, but changed my mind...carb, those manifolds already mentioned, drop down air cleaner, if you have AT, kick down linkage, lock up; fuel pump issues (some say you can use the in take pump with a regulator to step down the pressure, others say its best to just use a reg. carbed fuel pump). Distributor is the other thing to look into.

There's several recent threads out there. I recently carbed mine and there's really only a few problems you'll run into. Ask redc4corvette though, he seems to think he knows everything.

I believe I have eveything but the fuel lines, and we will make them out of braided line and fittings to fit properly. I got a 3 port return style malory regulator for the fuel issue and I got a vacume advance distributor from malory also.the biggest quetion I have is what is eveyone doing with their wiring harrness? Also what about the coolant sensor in the fron t of the tpi intake? And what do you guys think about the proform 750 carb on a 383? It does not have any type of choke or even a choke tower. I imagine this will make it a pain to warm the car up on cold mornings.anyway except for those few questions i think I have it all mapped out and hopefully I can get it on the car and running by saturday night.

thanks again guys!

Well, when I converted to a carb I just left the wiring harness kind of bundled up and "hidden" because I though I would go back to EFI. The Stealth intake will work but you have to use a smaller air filter. I have the "shaved" version that came with X-Ram intakes which is shorter. I just put a carb adapter plate on it. Oh, i still got 22 or so MPG with the carb. lol

I used an MSD 6AL system, MSD adjustable timing control, and an MSD pro billet dist. with the mechanical timing springs. Make sure you get a distrubutor that doesn't require a computer to control the timing... i made a mistake like this the first time... it resulted in pink glowing headers. I also used the Mallory 3 port adjustable fuel regulator.

So what did you do with the wiring then? Just tuck it behind the block by the tranny?
I also have a msd 6AL that I will be using and the malory distributor I bought is the one with the led trigger system...

I am also using the mallory 3 port regulator with the stock fuel pump. As for ignition You can go for an elborate and high perfromance such as kpforce, or you can usie a late seventies corvette hei distributor complete for under 100. Im using the cheap jegs brand distributor with 50k coil , just put it toghether and drop it in for 89.00 bucks. your stock tack and ingition lead wire are going to plug right in, you just dont you the 5 pin esc conector.

I understand the wiring issues as far as what to use and what not to...I am just not quite sure where everyone has been hidding the harness. I will eventualy go back to F.I. so I dont want to eliminate it completly but on the other hand I am looking for the cleanest look possible.

theres plenty of room, i would tape everything up toghether tightley, most of the unused stuff can be fit behind the distributor tucked away. You wont notice it there.
