I have a 92 6-speed vette with flowmasters,160 thermo,throttle body bypass,& open air lid w/K&N. I've out ran trans-ams easy before,but the other night me and two of my friends went street racing. MY friend in the 93 TA stayed right beside me every time. He raced a 94vette and stayed beside him to. His car is stock except for aftermarket ram-air & MAT relocater. Why is his car so fast??? Where some just built that fast??? :confused:
My friend has a `97 T/A. We've raced once, he stayed right w/ me until about 60 mph, then I started to pull on him . His car is a stock auto w/ a k&n. Mine has k&n and flowmasters and a auto w/ 2.59s.
gm's quality control on engines isnt the tightest thing in the world. you will find that one stock LT1 f-body will run high 13s stock and some others stock will run mid 14s. ive also rode in quite a few TPI vettes and camaros, and some are way faster than others bone stock. its just a matter of picking out a factory fast one, or getting lucky in other words. :seeya

I had a 97 T/A before my Vette and I couldn't break 14.5 @ 99 with it... My friends with the same cars were running 13.9x - 14.0x with theirs...
I know one factor in some of these cars is the timing advance... Many later F-Body guys swap out the LT1 knock module in the back of PCM with an LT4 knock module due to false knock signals that cause timing retard at WOT...
I never tried the module in my T/A but did put one in my Vette... My scans showed very small improvement (1 deg less with the LT4 part), but every little bit helps... I know some T/As and Camaros has 5-12 deg of knock retard at WOT before the LT4 part and it was reduced to 3-5 deg afterward...
My Vette feels like it has much more power than my T/A ever did...
When my '94 Z28 was bone stock, I ran a '92 Vette up to 110 mph and stayed right on his bumper the whole time. He couldn't pull and neither could I. Some F-bodys run really well.
yeah but that 92 vette with 3.73s wouldve SMOKED a stock z28 bad off the line. some cars just come out of the factory way faster than others. ive seen a stock (and yes i know for sure it was stock) 1990 iroc L98 camaro outrun a 1991 TPI stock auto vette. its just how good the engine is you have. its also the same way with mustangs. some 5.0s are quick, others run around like dogs with their tails tucked between their legs. :yesnod:
What the guys are telling you about different cars being faster is correct...
My 96 Vette has a 2800 Vigilante Converter, & 3.73 rear & thats it (minor other stuff) Breathless, Hypertech, Throtlebody coolant bypass, Muffler Eliminator,& its run as quick as (good air) 12.48 @ 108 mph... Now there is an LT1 that never had the valve covers off..

I bet on an engine dyno there isn't 3 HP difference any stock motor.
The KEY here is where you spend your money to go fast. These stock make enough RWHP (ABOUT 250/260) to propell a 3400lbs car mid 12's (panuzzo 12.48, my car 12.46). But you must know what mods will give you the best result and no ZAINO doesn't count.
actually, ive seen a stock L98 dyno with ~195RWHP and another stock L98 dyno with ~220RWHP. that was a little harsh. who said anything about spending money on mods or zaino.
