Default 4l60E upshift question

Hey I just had my tranny in my 94 done[auto].How can I make it hold first gear longer?I installed a mild hi-stall,& it seems to get outta 1st gear really soon,& into second too quickly[when left in drive] when I leave a stoplight under light load.Is it ALL done throught the PCM?Is it going into second gear quicker cause the looser converter is making the rpm's come up fast[but yet the car isnt going any faster]?Tranny shifts kinda soft too,but there is something the tranny guy can "tweak'to firm it up!![so Im told?]

Assuming all is well mechanically, shift points can only be changed w/ programming. Firmness can also be changed at that time.

What is the stall speed ? Under part throttle accelaration it is going to shift like that as the converter has not fully engaged. The real question is how does it shift at wide open ?

rayosequis has the right idea the shift tables shift the tranny at a much lower speed at low throttle conditions. Bring that puppy to WOT and see what it does. You can bump up the lower throttle position shift points too, and as Corvette Kid NC stated you can even change the shift firmness via the PCM .

Well I use to 2 foot it to 1400[stock converter w 3.08 gears] & flash to about 2200-2400.Now It's 2300 foot & 3300-3500 flash. Its a reworked fact. coverter.ive since learned that my tranny guy used some kind of kevlar clutch's,& that they need some break in time. After 50 miles on my fresh tranny,I can feel that already it shifts firmer. As far as shift points go,they seem a little low[no lower than before mind you]but I can live with it.K-next Question,I have a PCM'S for less PCM.Can I still use my Hypertech-3,to firm up shift's & play with my shift points? If I could-all would be happy!!!!

Probably not but I've got a better suggestion. Get the B&M Shift Plus. It's a control module that wires into two wires on your PCM and that's it. It should be under $40. It has three settings with the flip of a switch. Stock, firm and extra firm. It's one of the first things I ever put on my car after my speed shop guy told me about it. I've had it for about 2 1/2 years and love it.
