I was reading a thread about an X Pipe and was wondering if I should add one. Since the state I live in requires no sniffing I was thinking of doing Hooker long tubes and running both pipes straight to mufflers. Should I put in an X Pipe? Will that affect ground clearance?
Sounds like he may be building a true dual system. New headers with "both" pipes going to mufflers... If it will be a true dual I don't see why you wouldn't go with an x-pipe while the car is up in the air. I'll be installing one on my 95 Sunday (Magnaflow Universal 3" x-pipe -new $72 shipped - eBay) ... Will see how that goes...

It does sound that way, I should have read it better. Yes, do the X or at least a crossover.

If you do a custom dual system, a good muffler shop should be able to build one a helluva lot cheaper than any Corvette specific X pipe you're liable to find. Some of the universal ones can be made to work on the Vette but they're really wider than they need to be.

I added one to the true dual setup on my 84 Monte, and noticed a substantial torque boost from 1200-2200 rpm. It wouldn't climb hills in fifth gear at 1600 rpm at about 50 mph, now it strolls right up the same hills with less harshness. A h-pipe would have done the same, but Husker Performance sold an X-pipe that welded right in without wrecking the whole system I had built, and it was only 38 bucks! I can't find their website now %%^#@ but I tried so I could post a link.
Just recently put a set of Heddman Elite headers with custom true set of duals - with crossover pipe - set of Dynomax Turbo muffers.
Runs and breathes soooooooooooo much nicer ------- plus a nice throaty sound. We installed the O2 sensor and EGR back into the headders ------- no changing of computer.
ive got tpis longtubes and bought some 3 inch mandrel " U-bends" and then i bought a 3" MTI X-pipe for the c-5. had my buddy weld it all up to a B&B 3" systm, substituting the X-pipe for the B&B resonator. it sounds great!!!!!!!!!!!
