Default Any tips for distributer inst?

About the last thing I have to do is put the old distributer on my new engine. Whats the easiest way to align it corectly for 6* and get the rotor in the right position?

put the rotor on the dist but leave the cap off. as you know approx where the rotor should point firing #1 eye it up or use a compass to get the proper angle based on measuring from the cap. Just make sure you have the cam and crank in the proper position for firing #1...use the dots on the timing chain or pull the spark plugs and physically check the piston positions. as long as you are somewhat close with the dist. you can adjsut the timing easily once it is running.

I position the crankshaft at the point where I want the spark to fire and then install the distributor and rotate it so that the reluctor points (the triggering mech in the bottom of the distr that has teeth around it) are just a tiny bit passed being aligned. This should get you very close to the correct setting.
