Check your factory service manual, to see what's involved. You may be able to swap it out in a couple of hours. In my opinion, the dealership is definitely the wrong place to take a job like that.

Look at the wires giong to the transmission, the single wire that is pluged to the switch closest to the engine up towards the top of the gearbox on the left side is the backup light switch.
Just unplug the wire, screw out the switch and screw in the new one and the job is done.

Check the connection and clean both parts first, this was the problem with mine. If you shake the connection and the licht comes on with the car in reverse and the key on, there is nothing wrong with the switch and the connection is the problem.
Don't know price or part number because I did not buy a new one.
