are the locations of the spark plug hole in the same spot on all angle plug heads- both factory and aftermarket? the reason i ask is because i am doing another v8 engine swap in my s10- and from what i have read- it's just about impossible to find a set of headers to fit angle plug heads. i have a set of hedman long tubes for the project. i also have a set of 113 heads (they are just left over from something else- not planning on using them on this swap). just out of curiosity i held the headers up to both heads- and i don't think there would be any problems with angled plugs- looks like straight plugs would be more of a problem. just trying to make sure the plug locations were the same on all head suppliers- before i went and ordered the wrong thing.

As far as I know, the most common plug locations out there are:
-Straight (very common)
-Angle (very common)
-L98 Angle
I think the Angle/Straight is pretty set in location between head manuf. I would recommend bolting the header up, then putting in all the plugs and then wire boots. What looks like clearance will quickly dissapear.
Also, I know AFR sells the L98 angle, I am not sure if that is what the 113s have or not. I think that is the info you need now.
would you say that the l98 angle is between the aftermarket angle and straight? if so - that's even better- that's getting everything even further away from the header primaries.
they are not all the same, it'll depend on manufacturer, most are close to L98 angle, but I can think of one or two that specifically state that a certain header wont fit their angled head
L98 angle is the 128/113 head angle, the earlier iron heads are straight
generally what will fit the L98 angle will fit the straight, but as on my TPiS headers that is what causes the boot to barely rub the primary
seems like a crap shoot. guess i could call dart and tell them about my headers or call hedman and tell them about the heads i want to buy- and see what the other says.
Yrs. ago I bought high performance CAST iron heads angled plugs directly from chevy. Buy your self some Accell vari angle plug boots and new wires. The boots are cool-you can actually rotate them away from the headers, incidentally-I used Hooker headers.
So, what is the point of angle heads vs. L98 angle heads vs. straight plug heads?? Are these angle heads just all about header clearance or what?
well- here is what someone replied with to my same question on a different site- makes sense to me...
"Moving the spark plug is an inevitable result sometimes of improving the design of the heads.
If everything about all aftermarket heads was the same as stock, then there wouldn't be much point in their existence in the first place, now would there?"
so- i called hedman and they told me my headers were made to work with the zz4 aluminum heads- which i believe is the same as the 113 heads- correct?
i then called dart two different times- hoping to get two different techs- just to double check what the other had told me. well- they both insisted the other was wrong- one told me the placement of the plugs holes was modeled after the zz4 heads- and the other insisted he was wrong and that i needed straight plug heads. this stinks- i want to give them $1k- but i/they don't know what i need.
so- i got to talk to the lead cylinder head engineer at dart. nice guy. anyway- he finally answered my question - he said the the spark plug holes on the Pro1 heads are in the exact same position as those on the 113/ZZ4 heads. just thought i would pass that along.
