I posted this question in Tech but never really got an answer...
I installed a 3200 stall Vigilante last fall...I have been running the 1/8 mile drag strip till an event last weekend...it was my first crack at the 1/4 mile with the higher stall...
On all my runs the converter seemed to lock up then unlock at about the 1000' mark...this never happened with my stock converter or the 2400 stall before this one...very difficult to be consistent with this going on (I bracket race)...
My question is: I was under the impression the converter will NOT lock up at WOT...is this not true?...also, would a higher stall converter affect this?...
Thanks for confirming this for me...to my knowledge, it shouldn't have been messed with...I did have a chip burned about 3 years ago to correct the A/F ratio and to turn on the fans sooner...that's all that was done that I know of...
The weird part is there have been no changes to anything other than the higher stall converter..can't figure out why it is doing this now...I hope to have a scan done early next week by the guy who burned the chip that is in the car...hopefully that will give us an answer...
OK, my car is fixed...turns out ti was locking the converter at 90 mph at WOT...don't know why...I had a new chip burned that does not allow the TC to lock up at WOT before 115 mph...
