Well I soon start college and already have enough money in bank for two years, therefore the money I make from my job I will be saving up for....GEARS, running my auto-stock 2.59's and the only thing that would make me happier, and prouder then saving up 7-800 bucks for 3.73's on my D36 would be spending almost 2000 on a 4.10/3.73 set on a new D44, let me know what you guys think..
I hope you don't plan on driving the car very much! With 3.73 or 4.10 gears with that automatic you will not be passing too many gas stations. With an automatic I would suggest not going with anything lower than 3.45's if you plan on driving it alot. BUT if you never plan on going real fast on the highway, and just want 1/4 performance, then by all means, go with the 4.10's.

With a basic motor you want 3.73 gears. I drove over 50,000 miles with my dana 36 and raced over 400 1/4 mile passes without a failure and ran mid 12.'s. I also got 20mpg. Thats a fair trade off for the performance you get.
I now have 4.09 with 28" tall tire. this bring the ratio to 3.80. I can carry this with my motor but think it would be way to much for you.
PS, i SPENT $2,100. for my dana 44 conversion with the 4.09 gears.

I've got two D-36 pumpkins, a 3:07 and a 3:73 that needs spiders that I'll let go reasonable, I bit the bullet and went to a D-44 3:73. Email me if interested, Dave
