Look at your gaskets.. Are they the blue fel-pros? If they are, I dont beleive you need to re-torque them (or so the instructions included with mine said) ;)
Yes they are. They have the blue silicone lines.... The instructions said to retorque after one heat cycle. If youre in extreme conditions such as racing...
I did not think there was a gasket made today that needed retorquing. Thought with all the coatings in use today that retorque was a no-no To be on the safe side I think I would call Fel-Pro and ask. If you call please post their response. I would like to know.
Go over them again. Do not loosen the bolt ! They ususally only loosen about 2-3 lbs. Some of the head bolts are ok and don't need to be retorqued. But you have to check them all.
It is a big job, you have to take off the exhaust manifolds again, remove the valve covers & loosen some of the rocker arms.
the blue fel-pro head gaskets are called perma-torque, they came up with those because it's such a pain to pull everything off the newer cars to re-torque. i have a lot of friends that use them on high hp race engines that do not re-torque them.....and some are running blower cars. the only ones you have to re-torque are steel or copper....you use those when your trying to keep the compresion ratio up and can't use the thicker perma-torque ones.
however you'll never hurt them by re-torquing....
