Hi guys new to this site but I enjoy it!
Anyway, I am sure this has been brought up a million times but I would like to know what is the best way I can make my Vette sound more "race-like". I have a 95 Vette LT-1 which only has Flowmaster exhaust and K&N airfilter. I really would like for it to be known when i drive up, like a super deep rumble or something.
Keep in mind that I am a college student and funds can be tight!
cut your converters off and run a cherry bomb in place of your resonator. When you pull up to a stoplight youll be noticed allright. Longer you drive the cherry the LOUDER it get. Had one got annoying after a while took it off
LONG TUBE HEADERS .......should wake up your niegbors
Do they really add to the noise level? My car is in having them put on now, I already had a Borla Cat back and hollow cats, will it make it louder, or just more chopy/burbly?

They definitely do add to the noise level of the car. I have TPIS long tubes on my L98 and there was a significant change. Also it is not choppy or burbly at all. If you are doing the front Y also there will be a definite change in noise and slight shift in resonance RPM.
I'm driving cross country in a few weeks, and I have been considdering adding high flow cats because they cut down on resonance, now that you are mentioning a resonance increase even more with the headers I am REALLY considdering it. The whole long drive will be right in the resonance zone. I don't know if I can take 4 days and 2500 miles of that?
If you want more exhaust noise on a tight budget, consider muffler eliminator pipes. You may or may not like the way they sound, but you can't beat the price, and you sure as hell won't sneak up on anybody with 'em on there. If it turns out they're too loud, or resonate too badly, you can always bolt the flowmasters back on there.
I just put a set of new mufflers on that I had used 30 years ago and got good service. They are the closest thing to a muffler eliminator without getting the cop magnet popping sound I have seen. Did an on-rack test and got no resonance. You get two double tips that are chromed. The secret is they are resonators (like on Cadillacs) Each tip is a small resonator so you have four of them in all. They are like small glass packs, Got mine at Corvette Central on line. Now my C4 sounds more like my '57 C1 did and the rear of the car is 50 pounds lighter. The juavos are back!
Glass-packs, cherry bombs? What is this, a J.C. Whitney catalog? Your flowmasters are not going to really wake up until you install some LT headers and a cam.

Headers & cam will definitely beef her up a bit...
Hey Jeff, have you have your car re-dynoed yet? Mine goes in tomorrow morning at 10:00 am. It will be interesting to compare 3 different dynos. Marcus
Not yet Marcus but I'm gonna hit Pro Dyno (Jay mentioned them) very soon. What are you paying and how many runs? PM me w/ your #'s pls... Maybe I'll hit the place you're going to.
btw...Good luck on those #'s man!
Also, when you say 3 different dynos...you've only dynoed it once since it was "done" right? By "done" I mean..all work completed.
I've had it dynoed once after the header/exhaust installed = 280 rwhp. I will use that as my baseline. I just kind of figured that if you try two different dynos, and I try 2 different dynos, maybe we can make some sense of the whole thing. Maybe not. I'll post tomorrow afternoon. (I think that we just hi-jacked a thread, sorry).
