I recently bought my second corvette and this one is a beauty. 1989 with 62000 miles. Not much work to do on it but am having a problem starting it when it's cold. I always thought a fuel injected engine should start right away but mine does not. I have replace the fuel pump and filter and this has not helped. Any suggestions out there. When it's warmed up it runs great. I did notice when I backed it into the garage the other day it would not run while parked on a hill. I had to let the car glide down to flat pavement before I could start it and back it into the garage. I'm just about to go crazy not being able to figure out why it doesn't start right away being fuel injected.

First, quit throwing money at unknowns. The number one tool you will need is a factory service manual. Besides trouble shooting charts it will tell you how certain systems, like the fuel supply system and allow you to check out components before replacing them. Two common causes of prolonged cranking are leaky injector(s) and a defective fuel pump relay. The first step, after the manual arrives, is to connect a fuel pressure gauge to see what is happening.
Thanks, I will try that. The injectors were replaced just a short time ago. Hopefully it's something else less expensive. I have already replaced the fuel pump relay. Next step will be the fuel pressure test.
How long does it crank before it catches? My '89 takes 2-3 seconds before it starts. I found that by turning the key and waiting for the fuel pump to pressure, it starts fine.
Since yours won't run on a hill, sounds like you have something else going on. Did you try the fuel filter? I have about the same miles (66k) and have not changed mine either.
