I'll throw this out here, some of you already use it, if you don't then look at their web site, this tool works. After reading all the posts on pluged cats, injectors, low compression and such i guess i should have posted this sooner,(the gray matter must be leaking out into the gray hair) I've used this for years,(the mt6) and it works great, you will be suprized what you can use it on, some of my favorite non automotive uses are the temp of the steaks on the b.b.q, and making sure the beer in the cooler is just right! These are a cheap tool you should have in your tool box. www.raytek.com .....
P.s, on cats your vette needs to run so you can get it(the cat) hot to get the best reading.

Great tool! They are fun to test body temp's too, to make sure we are still alive Mostly, I use them on exhaust headers to see if any one (or more) cylinders are running cool.

As a word of caution on these units, the surface emissivity plays a big factor in temp reported.

These are great for getting the right tyre preassuer in your tires. Just drive the car and check the temp at the edges and the center of the thread. Hotter in the middle, tire is overinflated, hotter on the edges, tire is underinflated. Hotter on one side or the other, camber needs to be reset.
I even use mine on my sons gocart to get the best setup for the track.
