Default LCA removal question

Looking at the procedure to remove the lower control arm, the manual says to use a transverse leaf compressor, is this necessary ? I am wanting to replace all of the bushings on the the front end, and wonder what all is required to get the lower control arm off.

Thanks,
Ernest

I use a jack under the lower controll arm, then seperate at the ball joints, remove the nut from the upper, remove the upper shock mount nut. Lower it all down slowly, then reverse to install it all.

To remove the rear bolt on the lower arm you need to remove the cross braces under the engine mounts.

Thanks for the advice, it sounds like a lot of work, but not terribly difficult to do (hopefully).
