One of my good friends made 326RWHP with nothing more than the hot cam and a flowmaster cat back kit w/ gutted cats. The motor actually had over 100,000 miles when we did the conversion. Just installed new valve springs and went with it.
i pulled 320rwhp 319rwtq on stock bottom end with hot cam, 1.6 rockers, gutted cats, gasket matched heads/intake, k&n, muffler eliminators, 52mm tb and a pcm reprogram. take away only the hot cam, port matching and pcm tuning and i was only at 260rwhp.
soon i'll have hot cam on a 383 dyno numbers.. another month or so!
I'm in the final stages(hopefully :blueangel: ) of my 383 build; Hot Cam, TPIS/AFR 190 heads, JE/SRP Pistons, Ported stock intake, 52mm TB, adustable fuel reg, flowmaster, SLP headers, dialed in ECM etc... The engine should be back in Monday and i should have dyno numbers by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Re: Dyno numbers with LT4 Hot Cam? (Midnight)
I'm hearing some very good RWHP numbers here. They're not that far from me. Have any of you got ET number from the track and a before and after compairson?
I added the Hot cam, DRM headers and a Ed Write computer to my 95. It already had ported heads, 52mm tb, 4:10s and some other stuff. I picked up .50 in the 1/4 with adding those 3 items first time out and in very similar weather conditions.
Jeff, please be sure to post your dyno numbers! I probably won't get to a dyno until late September or October with my new 383!
Mackey: I picked up approximately 0.4 seconds when I added the hot cam and gasket matched porting to my LT1 (plus pcm tuning) which already had 1.6rr's, 52mm TB, gutted cats, muffler elims and K&N. This took me from 13.2sec @ 108mph to 12.8sec @ 112mph. Both with 1.9x 60' s. I am not the greatest driver off the line with the 6spd/slicks .. practice practice practice! Wonder if I can ever turn a 1.7 60' or if that's something special for you automatic guys with the nice torque converters! Back to the road course for me anyhow :D
Mikey - I know this is a bit off subject for this post, but I was wondering where you get your work done in the area. I'm looking to get the hotcam installed as well in the near future and I'm starting from scratch looking for a shop. I had planned on going through Modern Musclecar, but I hear that they aren't doing any work anymore.
Thanks guys,
I'm going to buy and install one in the next two months, and also have my heads pocket ported. I suppose I'll proably need some Ed Wright programming, or do I?
Re: Dyno numbers with LT4 Hot Cam? (hurricane_777)
hurricane,
actually i am my own mechanic.. i can do everything with my '94 that you'd ever take it in for except body work. motor swaps, builds, rear end swaps, suspension work, clutch, transmission removal/install, etc.. working for the department of defense gives me access to the autocraft facility at selfridge air national guard base which has lifts, air tools and everything.. very convenient.
i'd suggest bruce at aggressive auto tho if you're looking to have somebody do your work for you. installing a cam is a lot of work tho, i personally wouldn't spend the labor dollars for just a cam.. if you're ready to do heads also it might be more worth it!
fyi, i've done all my cam swaps with the engine out of the car in conjunction with other projects (first time was installing lt1 crate motor and second time was installing 383)
bruce at aggressive auto used to work for modern musclecar quite some time ago but bought their old shop on groesbeck a little north of 12 mile on the east side. he specializes in grand nationals, lt1 and ls1 cars and i'd recommend him anyday.. he's a great guy.
Unfortunately it looks as though it will be a bit longer. I'm going to be in the states for some training for a while so I'm having Geoff press on with some suspension mods(coil overs) I was actually going to do later. He will be finishing the engine up and should have dyno mods for me soon. I'm going to put up another post on the motor. Thanks for your patience. And yes Geoff Jeal is also doing my ECM. He used to work for LOTUS and was part of the design team for the LT5. He has a few 415 CID LT5's running around putting out over 500 rwhp. I'll keep you posted.
