Ok got a major vac leak solved, don't ever over torque intake gaskets... Anyways my 86 L98 runs fine at idle for 2-3 minutes and then the RPM's start dying down slowly until it wants to quit. The remedy is to lightly tap the gas and it goes back to normal. Any ideas?
Have you:
1.) Checked and corrected any trouble codes?
2.) Cleaned the IAC valve and passages in the TB?
3.) Checked or set the minimum air adjustment?
4.) Checked or set the TPS?
Lately?

RACE ON!!!
1)Don't have diagnostic equipment so I haven't checked it.
2)I took the TB off and sprayed it down good with carb cleaner. However but i think I could have done a better job. Should I take off and clean more throughly?
3)How do I set minimum air adj?
4)Sorry to sound dumb but what is the TPS? Throttle Position Sensor? How would I set it.
As your new [URL=http://www.helminc.com factory service manual[/URL] will explain, it is in the counting of the flashes of your "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light.
RACE ON!!!
CFI-EFI - with all due respect, i think the following site is a better source of information:
you made 5 referances to Helms......any connections here?
The reason for the multiple references was the lack of response to them. It's like the old joke about training an elephant. FIRST you have to get his attention. No doubt the forum is a great source of info. However with many questions come erreoneus, slanted, and sometimes, just plain WRONG info. The more one knows, the less dependent they are on the well intended but misinformed responses. A little independent knowledge helps one separate the wheat from the chaff.
