I just bought a new laptop with XP software and now I'm possibly looking for software to recieve engine readings. I've heard of Diacom and another brand. Anyone know where I can get this info.
where can I start at for the basics on how to scan my computer while driving? the chord that runs from diagnostic terminal to laptop and where to purchase these parts
That is a GREAT web site!! It outlines the procedures VERY clearly. It is more comprehensive than anything else I've read out there. You should definitely write a book!!
John,
I am a little disappointed. You come to my house, I work on your car, read your current bin and scan your car while cruising but you don't ask me what you need to scan or burn chips.
You saw everything that you need in use when we scanned your car.
Anyway:
Go to www.moates.net. He can provide you with the cable and chip burning stuff that you need.
TunerPro has the ability to scan and tune (emulate) using the same software. The software is free with a donation. The emulation is really awesome.
You can also purchase diagnostics scanning software such as EASE or Diacom. I have Diacom also and your welcome to try it out on your machine. If it works I'll sell it to you ($50.00) if your interested. It wouldn't work on my newer laptop due to the way Compaq configures their printer ports.
I emailed Alvin to see if he can read EASE. I'll let you know what he says.
I have been working (learning) from gbody4 in the St. Louis area. He is using Turbo Link and here is their website: http://www.turbo-link.com/ This program is compatable with MS Window but costs $295. There is a good demo that you can download from the site. Note: this software will work on OBD1 Y cars...as the site has not been updated to say this. I am planning to buy this in the next few months.
