Tranny cooler ?'s

Thanks
While you're at it install a seperate fileter (screw on type) too, the perma cool one has a boss for a temp sender and comes w/ a gauge (ugly, I installed an autometer one).

If you follow directions and route it through the radiator, you will not get the cooling you are looking for. You need to bypass the radiator entirely. You will need to get another female flare to hose barb type fitting to bypass the radiator. Some plugs for the radiator are nice too.
It is very easy to mount it in front of the A/C condenser. You can use 2 of the bolts that hold the plastic spoiler (the thing that hits the curb when you park). The bolts line up very well. If you put it somewhere else, like behind the radiator or in front of the P/S cooler, you will not get much cooling.
To make the mounts cut off one end of the provided strap (4 provided) between the 2nd and 3rd hole. Put it in a vice between the 1st and 2nd hole and hammer it over to an "L" shape. Don't go to 90 degrees - approximate the angle of the A/C condenser - probably about 65-70 degrees. Use the other end of the strap and make another one.
Route your hoses before you hook them up and mount them on the cooler before you bolt it in. Remove 2 spoiler bolts and loosely attach your mounting brackets. Put the cooler in with the hoses on the top and bolt it to your mounting brackets with the bolts provided in the kit.
Finish hooking the hoses up to the 2 lines from the tranny and you are about done. Takes about 30 minutes. Remember to add a little fluid to fill the cooler.
Today I was cruising for about 1 hour at 80 mph. The outside air temp gauge was between 98 and 100. Tranny temp was 168-170. It used to be around 210 in these conditions. It will go up to 185 if I beat on it around town in this heat. I think it may even reach 190-195 in heavy traffic, but that has not happened yet.
Wow, you got the monster unit. Probably great for racing or mounting in a less efficient location. I'm afraid if I had one that big that the temps would be too low - especially in the winter. Probably works great where you have it mounted.
More than one way to skin a rustang.
