OK,
I have removed the clear coat & in some spots this is almost a white color on the rim... is that oxidized? or something?? How do I go about removing it?
Also can someone take me through what I am suppose to do next?
Sand? Polish? Buff? & when am I done? DO I apply something at the end to seal it?
Thanks
Re: Wheel refinishing help needed asap. (Dakotarota)
I just had my 380SL wheels powdercoated for $45 a piece. They look great! The guy that did them informed me
that to go back with a clearcoar was asking for trouble down the road as the rims are porous and would trap
a small amount of moisture that would lift the clearcoat with time. The powdercoating may be something you want
to consider or just maybe polish the wheels and leave it at that.

I would suggest using steel wool to get the oxidation off (sometimes the white stuff you are talking about eats into the aluminum) Then use a good metal polish, I used "Flitz". I would not re apply the clear coat, just plan on polishing from time to time.
