The regulator connector (plastic harness) for the alternator broke. The plastic harness broke into a bunch of pieces, so now i have to connect the loose wires to prongs on the alternator. The trouble is, there are only 3 wires, but there are 4 prongs!! Which wire goes to which prong? i don't have another vehicle right now to go to a dealership and try to find another plastic harness.. So what's the solution?
I guess since it's called a regulator connector, then it regulates the alternator output? or does it simply go to the CCM to warn of any alternator problems? Do i really need those 3 wires for the alternator to function correctly? Or can i just connect the red cable (the main connector) on the back of the alternator for it to function correctly?
Ummm, it does sorta say that he's got hiself a 93 LT1.
Keep in mind that an automotive alternator generates AC current and that it is the rectifiers (or diodes) that change this into the DC current needed to charge the battery.
The car & it's accessories run off of the battery not the alternator which is used soley to charge the battery.
the order for for the alternator, from top to bottom is PLSF/
P Top teminal is not used,
L is for the alternator light Shuold be brown,
F is for field volatage , usually blue or purplish
S is for sense the red one
no the alternator wont just work with the red. Get a replacement connector, cheap and easy
Does that mean the lighter color wire in the harness goes to the brown lead on the connector and the darker color wire in the harness goes to the black lead on the connector?
