Default LT1s running CC306 or GM847

I have a few questions for people running these cams on the street.

How's your idle? Will it idle with the AC on and do you have enough vacuum for brakes?

How does it pull from a stop?

What gears, tranny, stall, headers etc are you running.

You might want to check out www.camaroz28.com. Alot of the F-body guys use those cams. IMHO either one is too much cam for a stock bottom end 350. You really have to spin the engine (over 6500 RPM) to get the full potential out of either cam.

Personally I would go with Lloyds LE2 heads and LE1 cam. Should put you right around the 370-380 RWHP mark.

I don't know about stock ci but it is a good cam for a 383. I have perfect idle at 850-900 RPM, idles fine with the A/C, and the brakes work the same as they did with the stock motor. My motor is a compleate stump puller but that is because of the 383 and not the cc 306 so the from stop thing is definatly not fair. As far as a 350 goes it will be a bit of a pig down low from what I have read of guys running and cam surge is a bit of a problem without a great tune. Again for a big cube motor it is a great daily driver and that is all i can tell you from first hand experience. BTW stock gears, ZF-6, rest is in the sig

I personally think the GM847 is too big for a nice driveable 350ci.

Mike, from your previous posts I assumed you were getting a custom grind camshaft to match the flow of your secret heads.

I would tell you my custom ground cams specs. But, it's an "old street racer's secret".

Yes, a custom grind is in my immediate future.

However, even when your planning on a custom house you try to see how others like the neighborhood.

I surf other LT1 sights and the guys there talk about their 847 with stock heads, and I figure either, it's some 14 year old talking smack, the guy really is running an 847 and likes it, the guy is trying to obfuscate his real combination, or the F-body guys will run anything.

So I am trying to see how the CF guys like the neighborhood and so far it doesn't look promising.

I spend a lot of time on the F-body sights, and your right there are guys running these cams with unported stock heads. Which is why I asked here.

I checked out the LE packages and was thinking about a LE2.5(LE3 heads with LE2 cam) but I went with a different COA (Course of Action).
