if you buy mufflers and tips, how much cost/trouble is it to complete the system (cat-back) with bracketting and all? this is rough i realize, just estimates, or anyone who has tried this before.
edit: i called my local exhaust shop and they estimated $175 out the door installed, lemme know if this sounds good, or if its low/high.

Why not replace the entire thing?
PM Timspeed, he bought some mandrel U bends and Y's from summit, the went to the local exhaust shop for tubing and welding and had an entire custom exhaust system for dirt cheap. It'll fit better and it'll probably outperform all the overpriced clamp-on aftermarket crap.
I\'ve had two custom (not mandrel bent though) 2.75\" pipes installed from the header back on the 86 I used to have at a local shop and they charged $150, this did not include the mufflers though, I already had those. This is the route I will take when I finish up my current 1990 build as well, only this time I am going to add and x-pipe, which you can get off ebay for around $50.
I ordered the 2 1/2" mandrel bends from summit and a 3" catco cat from Ebay. Migged it up myself and it supported 280 RWHP. Total cost was about $100. I did reuse my mufflers though. Good luck with yours.
