I have a 96 lt4. It is an intermittent problem, but here goes. Sometimes when I shut the asr off to allow some "fun" I get what feels like a complete shutdown of the motor. It lasts for only a split second and then comes back strong. It has only happened to me in a tire spinning situation with the asr turned off and with the asr on it never completely shuts down. It just pushes the throttle back at me like it should. When this happens, if feels like a fuel shutoff, or the ignition cutting out, but still, only happens if the asr is shut off. It is also not the rev limiter, because i'm not even to 6k yet when it has happened. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Do tell me what your oil pressure reads when the problem occurs...
MY oil pressure is always between 30-70psi. I have not however looked at the pressure when this occurs. I will try to remember to look the next time. Do you think that the oil pressure safety could be shutting down the fuel pump?
Give her a look and let me know, I went though some serious work to fix my problem and it started similar to yours.
Finally got a chance to play around with the car, and the oil pressure stays good when this happens. I think I may have figured out the problem however. I don't want to jinx myself, but I never paid attention to the fuel level when this would happen. I think with the asr turned off, it would allow enough g-force to expose the fuel pump under hard acceleration, and low fuel in the tank. When I took it out today it would stall everytime on a hard take off with the asr turned off. I put some gas in it and could not get the problem to repeat. I would think that the tank is baffled enough to prevent this, but perhaps not. Any way, keep your fuel levels up..
Yeah - mine will even do this with 5 bars showing on the fuel gauge. Just about every C4 seems to have a faulty gauge.... I have seen the fix posted a few times... But it doesn't bother me enough (I have gotten used to reading past its inaccuracy).
