i got a 96 lt4 and oil is literally pooring out of the back of my transmission.. i don't have a lift but i am going to try to get it on one soon.. i had to take the c beam off two weeks ago and it started leaking last week all of a sudden.. i have heard of the tailshaft housing cracking from over tighening the c beam, or it could be the seal.. if its the housing where could i get a new one QUICKLY! thanks
I'd be leaning more to a bad rear transmission seal. First you have to locate the source of the leak. The Helm's manual suggests using baby powder to detect the source of the leak. I guess its like that old joke about rolling "it" in flour and looking for the wet spot Good luck.
I had a leaking out the speed sensor electrical connection before. (Suggestion).
First place I would look. The tail stock is sealed to the case with a large diameter "O" ring that isn't very big (that sounds kinda crazy). Very easy to slip out of place.
