Default Accel or MSD

I am putting a SuperRAM on my L98, and have found that previous detonation issues caused by my distro led to a blown head gasket.

My question is when replacing the distro i am leaning toward putting in an accel distro, and getting an MSD ignition box purely based on cost.

Has anyone done this or something similar? Has anyone put an Accel distro in with good luck, or bad luck?

Is a "distro" in any way related to a disributor?

i haven't really heard anything good about accel ignition products.. have only used the stock distirbutor since going back to efi without issue but i had a complete msd with a pro billet distributor when my camaro was carbed and it worked great never had a problem with it.. now i just have the msd dual plug coil and a 6al and some wires to round off my ignition. i plan to get a new distributor to replace my stock one when i can afford it.

I have been running a stock distributor with an accel module with no issues. The msd box just failed again. I am replacing it with a crane hi 6. Avoid msd 6al if you can. They just don't seem to hold up.

No need to replace the distributor. Waste of money unless yours is worn out. Which is unlikely

I have a MSD 6a, the 8.5mm wires and their coil that fits in the cap. Mounted the box in the left headlight well.

The stock ignition system was running fine. But the MSD was a big improvement.

CFI, is a disributor in anyway related to a distributor?

I'm running a 300+ accel box, it has a built in rev limiter and is a multi spark unit, this is with my stock distributor/disributor/distro. No problems in the 5 years I've had it.

I have found that if you install the MSD according to the instructions you should not have problems.
I have 2 6AL MSD boxes.

Many people on the forum have an MSD "A" or "AL" box, they cost @ $215 , a few have the smaller diameter 8366 distributor, they cost @ $250 bucks so you would dump at least $375 to $450 on a package.

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...2&autoview=sku

They are all plug and play and mostly used for performance engines and some "bling" engines.

A few people have Accell but in general, I think that MSD is preferred I doubt the Accell wold be much less than $200 for the distributor.

My advice, is go get another stock distributor from you local Autozone etc for @ $100 bucks and "forget about it"!

Did you try the search engine yet?
