got my hella/h4 kit yesterday. the difference is night and day. the glass housings are the same weight, if not less then the glass sealed beam that I took out. Worth the $100 no doubt.
You can also order the standard halogen conversion kit from Mid America Motorworks (MAM), THEN replace the bulbs that come with it with either Silverstars or Sylvania True Blue bulbs.
The lenses are plastic for less strain on the headlight motors and you can use the bulbs that come with it as back-ups in an emergency.
Two things:
One, you don't want $25 headlights.
Two, I bought the 4x6 lights in this link for my VW. They are imported by Eagle Eye and they are junk. Pure junk.
Replaced them with real Hellas from ralllylights. Beautiful.
I've also used Cibie lighting in the past (have a set in my truck) and like them just as well as Hella.
When it comes to lighting, expect to pay at least $100/pr for anything worth the effort of installing....good rule of thumb.
Cheap headlights just don't work as well as good ones.
PS I would not go over 60W in any plastic headlight. You'll have a hard time finding anyone who is knowledgeable who recommends it.
