My local tranny man said he would rebuild my tranny for between 1000 and 1300 bucks. I've got an 89 auto. Provided he does a good job, is this my best option both performance and money wise? He says the 3 and 4 gears are burnt. Do I have any better options? Thanks
I also replied to your thread in c4 general. If that price includes a remanufactured torque converter, flushing the cooler and removal and replacement, it is very inexpensive.
That's a good price if it includes a new converter ( ask for a 2500 stall) and maybe a shift kit and tranny cooler. In fact, if he does all that, it is a great price.

Great. Thanks for the info.. I'll ask about that. Great info..
Be sure he installs a new sprag(29 element) and a new lo-roller clutch. Trans guys never install them in a budget build. They are worth $100 for both. Pay it, and you will be better off.
look up pro-built automatics ( http://www.700r4l60e.com ). they build good transmissions. i bought my kit to build my tranny from them. they have a pretty good following over on thirdgen.org.
