Hello all,
I usually post items that have to do with going faster, but not this time. I have an 89 vette that from day one the speakers have not worked up by the windshield. I thought that maybe they were just "fake", but now think otherwise. Has anyone tackled the front speakers before? I would like to get them working but have no idea how? I put a new stereo in the car (pioneer) cd player and it was a total pain in the foot. I now have my drivers door speaker unhooked because it was getting a whining/squeeling sound through it, so I got Pi*&ed and unhooked it. I read in the Thirdgen how to fix that but can not figure out how to get the amp out of the door. Guess I am more inclined to listen to the motor than the stereo. Never the less I would like to get it straightened out. Thanks everyone.
The amp for the door speaker is in the enclosure that the speaker is bolted to. In order to remove the amp, the enclosure has to come out of the door. It is a royal pain, as you will have to remove the door panel and another metal inner panel to wrestle the enclosure out. Be patient and you'll be OK. Good luck.
Thanks everyone. I guess my original thoughts were correct with there not being any up there. And I guess the one in the door is going to stay the way it is. I thought the door might have to come apart and I am not going to go through all that. Like I said I would rather listen to the motor purr. Its just a shame to have a nice car and know something is not right with it. Oh well out of sight out of mind. Thanks again.
I seperated the speaker enclosure inside the door and took it out just as the top piece where the amp is at.I had to rotate the enclosure to get to the screws.I did not remove the inner door skin, just removed a few screws to push back the skin, soldered in new caps and now it sounds GREAT!!
