Default Need new Fuel Injectors (help)

well i finally discovered my problem with my 91 L98... man, its been a pain in the but,,,, already replaced several sensors, including tps, map, 02, and no longer throwing codes, so i purchased a ECM of ebay..... Did solve the issue, 'almost',, running a heck of alot better,,,, but now i've learned my #7 fuel injector, was shorting out, which therefore caused my computer to short out, it looks like... Now im trying to find the best deal to go with,,,, really need to buy some , by the end of the day.... Well I first had a suggestion on these Accels, from summit racing: http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp

seem to be nice.... however im wondering should i go with a set of bigger enjectors, or go with a set that would get me more performance? Your suggestions would be very helpful.... Also, i suppose if i go with a bigger set, I "HAVE" to get it re-tuned pretty much, right????? thanks for the help in advance...

A lot do not like the Accels, do a search on five-o-motorsports on ebay they sell good injectors, a set around $200 I think. Also check your fuel injection connectors

I have a 86 vette with light mods and I just replaced my injectors. I went with the Accel's from Jegs. They are 24 lbs and I think unless you have some significant modifications you want to stay pretty close to stock injector size. The stock injectors are good for less than 400 hp engines. A lot of guys on here don't like the Accel injectors, I guess just personal opinions.

The reports of Accel failures here are not personal preference but fact. For your car I believe the "pink" top FMS injectors are the way to go.

over the accels???

also,, i didn't realize that,,, so the accels (30bls) is not the factory size injectors? and 22lbs is i guess????

Yep those are the ones. I will be getting a set soon myself...Once my next MGIB comes in

Yes 22 are stock, you really dont need anything bigger unless you have a lot of money in mods, which was already stated.

Yes, I believe 22lbs is correct for stock.

The Ford sizes are not directly comparable, because I believe they are rated for a different fuel pressure. Either way, the guys here can point you to the correct Ford injector.

As for bigger injectors and more performance, as was mentioned, unless you have done some serious mods to move more air through your motor, stock size injectors are all you need. There is basically a specific Air/Fuel ratio to get the most power out of your engine. Installing huge injectors with a stock computer that was setup for stock injectors means you will be running rich at WOT (at cruise the O2 sensor will shorten the pulse width of the injectors to bring the A/F mixture back to where it is programmed to be) and you will NOT be making the most power you could be.

You either can send off the stock injectors to Rich at CruzinPerformance, or buy Ford #24s and an AFPR.

The AFPR helps the computer adjust to the larger injector.

For get sending in the 91's stock injectors, they are multec's. They don't even bother trying to do multec's because they are so crappy.

Just so you understand the above reference.FMS injectors(bosch) are rated @ 38psi so they are a little larger than that at40-42psi your car runs at.Most guys have swaped them out with no problems as the ECM can change the pulse width(duty cycle) based on the O2 feed back.24#FMS would definately need an adjustable FPR and some guys choose them for future mods.So what I am saying is FMS22# are pretty much plug and play for an L98 engine. If you should have any problems check what your Fuel pressure is and if by chance it is higher and the car runs rich you MAY need an AFPR at that time to dial it back.I do not think you will need it though.
