Default TPIS Bigmouth? Upper runner mounting holes missing!

I have a used Bigmouth, that has not ibeen installed yet.

I just noticed the upper runner mounting holes are not drilled. These are the for the bolts that thread in from the intake side, into the runner. The bosses are on the casting but no holes. Surprised to see this.

Is this normal? Did TPIS decide these aren't necessary or did I receive an incompletely machined part? I'm thinking those mounting holes are important for sealing to the base, so I'm probably gonna drill 'em myself

Anybody else see this?

It sounds like a mfg oversight; a call to TPIS might be in order.

I decided to go ahead and drill. I've got 1 complete.

Its a bit tricky due to the angle, so I started small and worked my way up, drilling from both sides, starting with the gasket side.

I was pretty happy when the first two holes came together cleanly. Then it was easy to enlarge and hog out to get the angle right.

One more to do. I just hope this isn't an indication of something else wrong with the casting, or a scrapped part.

look VERY closely at all the bolt holes & make sure they don't break into water or intake passages. I had both those issues w/ my TPIS BM manifold. I called them about it but sure didn't see any coupon or breaks....

Bottom line is that I have been happy w/ the results of the final install. Just took more tinkering that one would think.

Oh, & check those plugs on the bottom of the intake, I had to pull my manifold & reseal after sucking oil into my intake. I never could figure out if it was one of those plugs or an intake gasket that popped but it was all of a sudden & would NOT go away. I dimpled the heads & intake around the ports & used a very thin coat of silicon to really make sure & it has been fine for over a year now...
