Default Test drove a '93 today..

It had 51k miles, Auto with Base suspension and 2.59 gears.

Took off just as sadly as a 2.59 geared car I thought would, but then woke up after about 3500rpms, and she tripped the ASR going into second .. Oddly it shifted at about 46mph, but felt good.. Nowhere near the power of my L98 off the line, but was pretty sweet.

Is it normal for a stock LT1 to spin into 2nd with such crazy low gears?
(ps it was at 1500rpms at 60mph )

If your going to get on it, your suppose to shut ASR off. Was it cold outside? My 93 stock with 3.07 would usually lay good rubber unless it was 100 degrees out. On its best day would chirp into 2nd. Since then the 3.73 allows me to bust the tires loose at a 20 mph roll ( Nitto DRS 315). If you like that car, the 3.73 will make it feel like your L-98 out of the hole.

I've never driven a slushbox 'vette, but the LT1's were always known for waking up at higher rpms. It's the short intake tubes compared to the L98. They were fast, but didn't feel as fast as the L98's.

They went back to the longer tubes on the LS1 to make it feel faster (among other reasons, of course).

Oh, and I could get 3rd in my 6-speed. But it had a 4.10 rear when I bought it.

Now it chirps 5th

Nah didn't buy it. The color combo was not my top choice. It was deep green with tan interior.. paint looked good, no bubbles anywhere or spots, straight body too..

I already have a Dana44 with 3.45's I'll be swapping into whatever vette I buy, but was nice to feel teh car trip the asr with lowly 2.59 gears. Better than I thought..
