OK, I have an 89 coupe, the switch is completely missing from the electric drivers seat, as normaly I'm the only driver, I dont need to alter it, so its no prob, I can adjust it wqhen needed by getting a spare battery and just touching the terminals in the socket in the seat harness, however my son is going to be visiting me from England, and i know he is gonna want to drive it, to make life a little easier and not have to get out a battery every time it needs altering, is there any way of putting in a normal three way switch, i only need the seat to move back and forward, the other two up and downs dont matter, so it would just mean wiring up the two terminals for back and forth, my prob is, as far as i can see, it will work fine one way, but if wired into the car electric system, will it(which is whats got me wondering) short out when the polarity is changed, cos that is how i do it with a spare battery, obviously as nothing else is hooked up to this battery it doesnt short, but does anyone have any ideas or has anyone else done this cheap fix???
all help appreciated,
Dave
I dont see why not.
From memory the sports seats in my '87 had 6 wires for the 3 functions so obviously the switch reversed polarity to drive motor one way or the other.
Have '87 FSM , can check actual wiring detail if needed.
