Default Octane depreciation?

I don't know about you guys in other parts of the country but here in the LA area, I have suddenly noticed that all brands of premium gas are now rated 91 octane instead of 92 (this started happening about a month ago). Of course the prices here are the highest in the country so it stands to reason the quality would be the worst. Anyone else notice this? Maybe I'll go back to adding a small amount of octane booster each tankful.

I'm lucky 94 octane is still available here.
Instead of store bought octane booster, try putting in 10% to 15% Xylene in your tank. I've used it for many years and the only side effects are cleaner injectors and it may raise your water temperature by a couple of degrees. I buy Xylene by the 55 gal drum and it's about $3.80 a gallon this way (home heating supplier). It's also available in smaller quantities at paint stores for more money. I use a 15% mix with many fill-ups and I can crank the boost up a few more lbs. Xylene is 116 octane.
Look at the ingredients of the octane booster and fuel injector cleaner. It's probably Toluene (sp?) or Xylene.

Turbovette--interesting info about the xylene. So this is available in paint supply stores?! With my luck, I'd end up blowing up the garage ;).

92-93 octane is the usual Hi-test here in Massachusetts, and 94 is always available from Sunoco.

Has anyone had a problem with an orange residue on the spark plugs after using an octane booster?

It happened to me after using 2 or 3 bottles over the course of a month. The car had a bad hesitation as well as a miss fire. When I inspected the plugs, they were orange! This was with 104+ Octane Booster. Has anyone had success with the NOS Octane Booster?
